Slide 6
For intake pipe systems, recently three kinds of pipe materials have been used widely; these are steel, GRE (Glass Reinforced Epoxy), and HDPE materials.
These material have advantages each respectively.
The steel pipe has the highest yield and tensile strength even the disadvantage of corrosion under ocean environment.
The GRE is the one of the cheapest materials and good workability on site with the use of simple tools even its weakest point at the joints.
PE pipeline has also good advantages such as production long module in the factory and resistance to corrosion, although it has disadvantages like rather high cost than GRE, few manufacturers being able to product long module, and requiring delicate control during installation.
RDPP was the first project adopting the HDPE materials for pipeline in DAEWOO.
The successful story was started in 2013 by selecting these concepts.
We chose two types of pipeline with SDR 30 and 26, which governing the wall thickness.
As shown in this concept drawing, the concrete collar was used for ballast to function the stability under the water.
Following slides, we are going to look at the each design of the parts how we are keep the long pipeline module stable during installation.
